As you all know being a student is all ready pretty tough not to mention expensive. Good student driver insurance for young drivers can also be another huge expense if you don’t take your time to shop around. First of all take time and think about how often you actually need to drive your car to school. The other days of the week you can use a bike, walk to school if you live close, take public transit, or even carpool with friends. On top of that think about that fact if you really do need a car after all? You can usually save tons of money if you just use carpools and public transport so take time and really consider that as an option.

Make sure for the first year or so you drive really carefully. As you may or may not know that as your safe driving record improves your student driver insurance costs will actually go down and decrease. One technique that I actually used was for the first year of driving I only insured my car for 2 days a week. Then on those 2 days I would rarely drive which decreased the chances of getting in an accident. Sure enough I had a great driving record after that first year and my auto insurance costs went down 10-15% the next year!
